Fort St. John, B.C. , May 28, 2012 - Daniel Gorsic, CEO, Synergy Environmental Strategies Inc. and Shellie English, CEO, Aspen Environmental Ltd., proudly announce the merger of their two environmental services companies. Aspen, located in Fort St. John, provides expertise in site reclamation and regulatory closure, with a primary client base in the oil and gas sector. In merging our talent pool, Synergy and Aspen combine consistent, local leadership in Fort St. John and highly respected technical expertise. From pre-construction assessments to work requiring regulatory closure for any remediation and/or reclamation project, the Synergy/Aspen merger will create significant time and cost efficiencies for our clients.

Synergy specializes in providing contaminated sites consulting and reclamation services to the upstream oil and gas (O&G) industry in Northeast BC. Since starting business in 2007, Synergy has steadily grown to 25 employees (as of Q1, 2011) with staff located in Coquitlam (suburb of Vancouver), Fort St. John and Grand Prairie. Daniel Gorsic, P. Chem., Director/CEO

Synergy is lead by Mr. Daniel Gorsic, PChem, CEO/Director. Mr. Gorsic started his contaminated sites career in 1994 and is a member of the Association of Professional Chemists of British Columbia. Mr. Gorsic is committed to meeting the needs of Synergy’s clients, to develop and share a vision for Synergy’s sucess, encourage and develop staff and to obtain results.

Shellie English, CTech, LRM Dpi., BC QRS - Northern Operations Leader and Director

Ms. English is SynergyAspen's Northern Operations Leader and Director and is based out of our Fort St. John office. Ms. English has been working in the oil and gas industry, in north eastern BC since 2000. Ms. English is well versed in all aspects of environmental reclamation services from pre-construction through to land reclamation supervision and provides senior direction in SynergyAspen's reclamation portfolios. Ms. English obtained her Certified Technologist designation with the Applied Science, Technicians and Technologists of BC in 2004 and is also recognized by the BC Oil and Gas Commission as a Qualified Reclamation Specialist in British Columbia.

Michelle Uyeda, M.Sc., P.Eng., CSAP, Corporate Technical Services Manager

Michelle Uyeda, M.Sc., P.Eng., CSAP, Corporate Technical Services Manager, is based out of our Coquitlam office. Ms. Uyeda provides Senior Project Management and technical services to our clients. Ms. Uyeda has been in the environmental consulting business since 1994, focusing on project management, including Stage 1 & 2 PSIs, DSIs, remedial plans, hydrogeological assessments and submission of application for Ministry Approvals and Certificates of Compliance. Ms. Uyeda has been appointed to the MoE Panel of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals (CSAP) and is committed to providing cost effective quality service to Synergy's clients.

Tom Frkovich, P.Geo., CSAP, Senior Project Manager

Mr. Frkovich is a Professional Geologist and Senior Project Manager who began his contaminated sites career in 1991. His regulatory and technical knowledge in contaminated sites is demonstrated by his appointment to the MoE Panel of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals (CSAP). Mr. Frkovich’s experience spans across public and private sectors, that include upstream and downstream oil and gas, heavy industry, can commercial and site redevelopments.

Terry Duffy, P.Geo., CSAP - Senior Project Manager

Mr. Duffy is a professional geoscientist with 19 years of experience completing and managing contaminated site investigations and remediation in British Columbia, the Yukon, and Alberta. Mr Duffy's responsibilities with SynergyAspen include, Client portfolio management, preparation of work plans and costs estimates, management of budgets and timelines, preparation and review of technical reports, mentoring of junior staff, liaising with regulatory agencies, and overall client satisfaction. In 2008, Mr. Duffy was appointed to the Roster of Professional Experts (now CSAP) in BC.

Janet Humphrey, B. Tech. AScT., Project Manager, Territory Manager, Southern BC

Ms. Humphrey, has been working in the environmental consulting industry since 1998. As a Client Portfolio and Project Manager, Ms. Humphrey oversees Stage 1 & 2 PSIs, DSIs and remedial programs, from preparation of work plans and cost estimates, management of budgets and timelines and review of technical reports. As Territory Manager, Southern BC, Ms. Humphrey is committed to ensuring all field work undertaken conforms to client, regulatory and Health and Safety requirements.

Murray Ovens, CGA, Controller

Murray Ovens is a Certified General Accountant, receiving his designation in 1993. Mr Ovens oversees Synergy’s Corporate Finance, Human Resources, and Administration functions.
